Feb. 2--SAN BERNARDINO -- REPORT SHOWS AREA MANUFACTURING ROBUST: The San Bernardino and Riverside county manufacturing sector strengthened dramatically in January, a Cal State San Bernardino report showed Wednesday.
The purchasing manager's index for the two-county region registered 61.5, up from 54.1 in December, according to the university's Institute of Applied Research and Policy Analysis.
A reading above 50 suggests growth.
On a negative note, the commodity price index hit 70.7, suggesting inflationary pressures are strong.
The December figure was 59.1.
