NEWSPAPERS in five European countries defiantly published cartoons yesterday that Muslims view as blasphemous.
The 12 caricatures of the prophet Mohammed have already caused uproar in Denmark with bomb threats made against the newspaper that first printed them.
Any depiction of the prophet is viewed as idolatrous in the Islamic world.
France Soir, a populist Paris daily, ran the drawings on its inside pages along with a cartoon of Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim and Christian gods floating on a cloud.
The cartoons portrayed Mohammed as a terrorist, one image giving him a bomb instead of a turban.
