Feb. 1--Electric customers likely will get another billing increase from Rochester Public Utilities this spring, and even an RPU board member is bristling about it.
The city-owned utility could raise electric rates close to 81/2 percent in April, as it passes along higher costs for buying electricity from its main supplier, Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency.
It could be worse. SMMPA actually is raising rates for RPU and 17 other member utilities by 16.9 percent on May 1.
