Rand, the Santa Monica-based think tank known for research into such weighty issues as war and peace, has undergone a significant management change and is conducting a study of itself.
Last month Rand named new vice presidents to head three of the organization's five primary research divisions. The private, nonprofit institution is also undergoing a bottom to top organizational review to chart a long-term strategic business plan.
In addition, Rand has begun its first concerted fundraising drive to increase its endowments from the private sector in response to the decline in funding from the federal government, particularly the U.S. Department of Defense.
