Eight games to kick $623 million into L.A. economy
When the World Cup soccer games slam into Los Angeles in June 1994, many Angelenos may be surprised by the force.
L.A. is slated to host eight soccer games, including two final games and the championship, a first for any city in the world, said World Cup promoters.
"No other city has had so many important games," said David Simon, president of the Los Angeles Sports Council, a non-profit corporation that acts as a bidding agent to attract major sports events to the Los Angeles area.
