Editor's Note: This month in "Fantastic Journeys," we sail from the west coast of South America to visit the Galapagos Islands with Ryan Yoo, age 9, who attends the Mirman School in Los Angeles, CA. The famous--but endangered --giant tortoises that are native to these islands have a life span much longer than any human's! These gentle giants are known to live up to 150 years, and scientists suspect that some of them may even live up to 200 years. While 200 years is not living forever, studying the Galapagos tortoises may give us a few new ideas on how to prolong our own life expectancy.
