BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. (NASDAQ: LPNT) today announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Smith County Memorial Hospital, a 63-bed hospital located in Carthage, Tennessee, by Sumner Regional Health Systems, Inc. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter. Terms of the transaction were not announced.
