A Dane County Board member wants money earmarked for planning a new alcohol and drug treatment facility and work-release program to include plans for more maximum security jail cells to alleviate crowded conditions at the Dane County Jail.
"We're ignoring the other crying need -- the need for hard cells," said board member David Blaska, who plans to introduce a resolution at tonight's Dane County Board meeting to include the cells in the planning of the new Dane County facility. "I wanted to catch this train before it's gone too far down the tracks."
