Feb. 5--MIAMI, OK -- In the 20 years since Miami's largest employer closed shop, the town has struggled to get back to normal.
It may finally be happening: Indian casinos are expanding at a rapid clip, putting pressure on local manufacturers such as Tracker Marine as the labor market tightens.
"If you want to work, there's jobs here," said John Finley, president of Miami's First National Bank & Trust Co. "We have some really good, healthy small industries."
Things haven't always been so easy for the northeast Oklahoma town of 14,000 on historic Route 66. Memories of "Black Friday" -- Aug. 23, 1985 -- still linger in ...
