The National Electrical Code, or NEC(*), is developed under sponsorship of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and is revised on a three-year cycle. The 917-page 1993 edition represents an increase of 84 pages over its predecessor 1990 edition. The 20 code-making panels of the National Electrical Code Committee processed 3671 proposals for changes to be incorporated into the 1993 edition.
