Like a toddler learning to walk, Little Tikes Co. founder Tom Murdough realized that after taking that first step, it was time for Step II.
Now Mr. Murdough, who left Little Tikes in 1989, is off and running with Step II Corp., his second venture in the toy business. Step II makes plastic toys and home and garden products.
After starting from scratch in 1991, Step II has grown to 430 employees. Between 70 and 100 of the workers left Little Tikes to join Step II, Mr. Murdough said.
"Step II goes a step beyond what we did before," Mr. Murdough said. "We learned a lot from our previous experiences and are making those changes at Step II."
