Gophers football coach Glen Mason said Wednesday that he is pleased with his 2006 recruiting class but not entirely satisfied. His feelings on college football recruiting in general were less ambiguous.
Unveiling his class on national signing day, Mason seemed exasperated by some of the increased gamesmanship and media attention that has turned recruiting into a spectacle. Mason said he believes an early signing period would eliminate "some of this ridiculousness that you're seeing take place right now."
"If I had my way, we would go back to no freshman being eligible because you would stop this funny business ...
