Before deciding to grant a Wisconsin developer the exclusive option to buy property from Des Plaines for two hotels, aldermen asked whether they could get a better deal.
The city council's community development committee members will forward the proposal to the full council later this month. Under the plan, Madison, Wis.-based Raymond Management Co. would receive the right to buy the land for the exact price the city pays.
Third Ward Alderman Laura Murphy, who sits on the committee, also asked city staff members whether they knew if the offer was the best.
