Feb. 6--STOCKTON - Roughly 2,000 residents, companies and schools had dropped off 200,000 pounds of electronic trash by Sunday after a three-day collection drive at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
Landfills normally charge residents to dispose of electronic waste, said Cindy Borgstrom, chief financial officer of Electronic Waste Management, the recycling company that organized the drive.
But Electronic Waste Management accepts unwanted stereos, computers, VCRs and other electronic waste for free. Doing so helps California's landfills and discourages people from dumping electronics off state roads, which pollute soil and ...
