SHANGHAI, China, Feb. 6 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors (the "Board") of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (the "Company") announces that with effect from 6 February, 2006: --
1) Mr. Cai Lai Xing ("Mr. Cai") resigned as Non-Executive Director of the
Company; and
2) Upon the resignation of Mr. Cai, Mr. Fang Yao ("Mr. Yao") ceased to be
alternate director to Mr. Cai and was appointed as Non-Executive
Director of the Company.
