the monster that is televised college football is stepping down upon one of the great traditions in West Virginia -- Friday night high school football -- and crushing it. WVU's much-anticipated 2006 football schedule was released Tuesday and it included an ESPN game on Friday night, Oct. 20, at Connecticut, and a nationally televised game at home, against Rutgers, on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Oct. 20 game will be played opposite University High's final home game of the season at Pony Lewis Field, against Preston, and figures to cut deeply into that game's gate.
