Jan. 29--Officials with Bryan Texas Utilities said work recently was done to improve the look of a 1-mile stretch of Texas Avenue from Sulphur Springs Road to Carson Street.
The overhead lines that feed into the streetlights were moved underground and mismatched wooden poles were replaced with uniform metal ones with 14 foot arms similar to those in front of the Tejas Center at Villa Maria and Texas Avenue, according to BTU officials. The lights now are brighter -x250-watt heads are used instead of the old 100-watt.
