THE mobile phone company O2 has become the first to say it will abolish roaming charges for customers visiting the North.
The announcement came yesterday as the European Commission ordered mobile phone companies to cut roaming charges or face legislation forcing them to do so.
EU Commissioner Viviane Reding said the difference in cost between domestic and international calls is 'unjustifiable and unacceptable in a single market'.
From April, Irish O2 customers will no longer have to pay extra to make or receive calls or send text messages when travelling across the border.
And business customers will no longer have to pay roaming ...
