Cemento LLC, which operates the 12-acre Sandy Hill sand and gravel mine on Stump Road, Skaneateles, wants to expand dramatically.
Joseph Rodgers took the first step toward getting local approval for the expansion Feb. 2 when the town board referred his application to the town planning board.
Cemento bought 79 acres on the north side of Stump Road, between Foster and Kingston roads, directly opposite its current mine site on the south side of Stump Road.
The new property would be added to the current site and operate as one mine, Rodgers told the board.
