Article: Austria's economy expands slowly.

Two Austrian research institutes, the Economic Research Institute (Wifo) and the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) typically schedule a day in the month of December as a release date for economic predictions about the two coming years. This year the date was December 22, 2005, and both institutes were encouraging with regard to 2006.

Each institute released upward revisions of their forecasts for GDP growth for 2006. Wifo added 0.6 percent to its previous forecast bringing the total to 2.4 percent GDP growth for 2006. IHS added 0.2 percent to bring its GDP growth forecast for 2006 to 2.3 percent.
