Al Michaels' anticipated departure from Disney-owned ABC/ESPN became fact Wednesday, when network officials announced that Mike Tirico, Joe Theismann and Tony Kornheiser will be its broadcast team on "Monday Night Football" next season.
The move will enable Michaels to join former "MNF" partner John Madden on NBC for its Sunday night NFL telecasts. NBC executives are preparing for coverage of the Winter Olympics, and a spokesperson said the network would have no comment Wednesday.
Michaels, 61, had been the voice of "MNF" on ABC since 1986 and signed a contract extension last summer with Disney that was ...
