Feb. 12--When it comes to tourism, Pawhuska's Ray Red Corn believes Osage County needs to thump its chest a little.
"We have more Corps of Engineers lakes than any county in the state," said Red Corn, coordinator of the recently formed Osage County Tourism Board. "We have two world-class western museums in Woolaroc and Gilcrease. The Centennial Gardens will be located in Osage County.
"And we also are home to the first Boy Scouts troop (established in 1909 in Pawhuska) in America, which a lot of people don't know. Of course, the Tallgrass Prairie is the unspoken jewel in the crown."
