Feb. 12--GARY -- Hobart resident Pete Mendez came to Saturday's Indiana General Assembly Update hoping to get his questions about the proposed Toll Road lease and property tax relief answered.
"I had a chance to at least ask them," said Mendez, a Democratic precinct captain. "I don't use the (Indiana Toll Road) so a sale is a benefit to me, but I can't believe our leaders can't find a way to keep all the money here."
Mendez's questions were indicative of those posed during the event, which was attended by about 60 people and was sponsored by the American Association of University Professors and the Democratic Alliance. ...
