Feb. 13--NEW BRAUNFELS -- Developers may have to start setting aside land and money to help develop the city's parks system, as the City Council is set to consider a parks fee on new homes tonight.

"I do like the concept," said Councilwoman Gale Pospisil. "It is certainly something we need to look at, and from what I've seen about how they came up with the fees, it looks fair."

Under a new ordinance, a developer would have to dedicate one acre of land for parks for every 150 homes in a subdivision or could pay $100 per home instead.

The ordinance also calls for a $500-per-dwelling-unit park development fee.
