NEW YORK - Cynthia Marcus has never been one to shy away from change.

Ten years after making the leap from couture and evening apparel to footwear, the VP and DMM of ladies' shoes at Dallas-based Neiman Marcus is stirring things up again.

In the past year, she has been working to add younger, edgier designers to the mix, a strategy that is helping the retailer broaden its core customer base.

"I think we now strive to serve the mother and the daughter - and that's one of the things that is continuing to evolve as we add more contemporary product," she told Footwear News in an exclusive interview.
