Feb. 15--GLOVERSVILLE -- When employees of Grandoe Corp. watch the men's Olympic mogul competition today, they'll be watching the Americans closely.
But as the athletes thump-thump-thump down the black diamond run, Grandoe workers will be looking especially closely at the hands of the athletes -- and their white Grandoe gloves.
For the first time in the history of this fifth-generation company, Grandoe-brand ski gloves are being worn in the Olympics. Winning the U.S. freestyle ski team glove sponsorship in 2004 was a major coup for this homegrown company, one of the few glove businesses still based in Gloversville.
