Feb. 15--Do a background check for a gun, and it will come back within five minutes. Do a background check for a job in a local school district, and it could take days, weeks, even months. Therein lies a serious issue for the state of Idaho and state school districts -- how to cut the timeframe of a background check for a professional or classified job opening. There are multiple reasons for that wide discrepancy between the two aforementioned checks. A concealed weapon permit is only a name check against the database.
