JULIEN Macdonald has never been the most forward-looking of fashion designers. A few years ago, he stated at the British Fashion Awards that "only skinny, beautiful women" should wear his clothes. And his signature look is still, yawn, a tiny, spidery, sparkly evening dress that barely covers your knickers and requires its owner to have the body of a 12-year-old.
