Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) blasted the Air Force and Lockheed Martin [LMT] for mishandling a controversial C-13OJ cargo aircraft procurement contract and wants an investigation into the "emerging scandal."
"We don't know what the cost of a C-130J is. We hear all sorts of different numbers," McCain said at Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) confirmation hearing on Wednesday on several Pentagon nominees. He suggested there might have been "collusion" between the Air Force and Lockheed Martin to hide contract costs for the cargo aircraft.
