Feb. 18--A El Conquistador! is an ingenious hoot, but it's more than that -- it's a hoot with a heart. Thaddeus Phillips and his Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental have expanded and restaged the show, a zinger mix of one live actor -- Phillips -- and six filmed actors he performs with throughout.
The show at the Painted Bride, on its way to the New York Theatre Workshop, demands remarkable timing of Phillips to persuade you that the whole thing is happening live.
