The local Al-Zamil Group and the US' Huntsman Corporation signed on 22 January a shareholders' agreement for the establishment of Arabian Amines Company, a joint venture (JV) project company to oversee the development of a $135 million ethylene amines complex in Jubail. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding for the project last summer (MEED 1:7:05). Under the agreement, the Huntsman/Zamil team will build a 30,000-tonne-a-year (t/y) plant, which will produce ethylenediamine (EDA), diethylenetriamine (DETA), triethylenetetramine (TETA) and higher molecular versions.
