TOKYO, Feb 21 Asia Pulse - In an effort to spur demand in the nascent hybrid truck market, Hino Motors Ltd. (TSE:7205) plans to upgrade its hybrid power system while Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. aims to release its first hybrid model this summer.
Hino Motors, which first released hybrid trucks in 2003, plans to switch to a new hybrid system that features a high-power nickel-hydrogen battery as early as the end of this year. By also making the motor smaller and lighter, the company hopes to improve the fuel economy of its hybrid trucks by 10% from current levels.
Hino also aims to lower production costs by sharing parts with hybrid passenger cars ...
