The Coon Rapids girls' hockey team spent most of its time between the second and third periods in silence after spotting Maple Grove a 2-0 lead in the Class 2A, Section 4 championship game Saturday.
Doubt entered the mind of junior captain Terra Rasmussen, who worried that two periods worth of missed opportunities meant this wasn't supposed to be her team's day.
Instead, a stirring Cardinals comeback put them ahead 3-2 a mere 2 minutes and 55 seconds into the third period. Rasmussen capped the flurry with an unassisted power-play goal at 6:34, and with the 4-2 victory, Coon Rapids heads to the state ...
