Feb. 22--Although Bethlehem City Council rallied behind a zoning change that would save the iconic Martin Tower from demolition, council members on Tuesday added a provision that developers say could jeopardize the $300 million deal.
That provision, which passed 4-3, calls for council to delay its final decision on the zoning change until city planners approve the land development plans for 945 homes and five to seven small shops on the site in west Bethlehem.
Councilman Joseph Leeson Jr. said the provision would hold the developers to the "creative" project pitched at the zoning hearing. But the developers argue the ...
