Feb. 22--ANDOVER, Mass. -- GILLETTE: DEODORANT PLANT TO STAY OPEN: Gillette Co.'s move to sell its deodorant and antiperspirant unit to Dial Corp. for $420 million will not result in the closing of the Andover plant that manufactures the products -- at least not yet. The facility employs almost 500 people. A Gillette spokesman told The Boston Business Journal that it was "too early to tell what if any (affect) it will have on the workers there." The Federal Trade Commission required Gillette to divest the business, which includes the Right Guard, Soft & Dri and Dry Idea brands, as part of its merger with Proctor & Gamble Co.
