Feb. 23--Next time you check your e-mail, in addition to your bank statement, some annoying spam and the latest from your college roommate, you might be staring at the face of a DuPage County sex offender.
That's because the county sheriff's office on Wednesday unveiled an online alert system, the first of its kind in Illinois, that will send out notices when a registered sex offender has moved into a neighborhood.
The system, called OffenderWatch, eventually will generate postcards that will be sent to residents living within one mile of a sex offender.
