Feb. 24--Waukesha -- The city should travel on the same Wi-Fi communications superhighway as Milwaukee and Madison, the Common Council decided Thursday night.

Wi-Fi, short for wireless fidelity, should be in the city's future, the council decided.

Aldermen authorized city officials to seek formal proposals from communications firms for a state-of-the-art computer communications network like those being installed in Milwaukee and Madison.

Brookfield and Wauwatosa are pondering whether to become equipped with wireless networks.
