Brilliant. Hilarious.

Cracker's old label, EMI/Virgin Records, decided a few months ago to package together a quickie greatest-hits collection without the band's input or consent. That's something that the big labels do all the time, to the consternation of artists like Aimee Mann and the Cowboy Junkies.

So frontman David Lowery decided that if you can't beat 'em, join 'em . . . and beat em that way. So Cracker decided to re-record every song on the Greatest Hits collection and release the result themselves as "Greatest Hits Redux," and release it on the same day that the Virgin collection was supposed to come out.
