Feb. 24--OKLAHOMA CITY -- Three abortion-related bills, including one calling for parental consent, were approved Thursday by the state House and now head to the Senate, where their future is not clear.
Each of the bills drew debate, including objections to all three from the Legislature's only medical doctor, Rep. Doug Cox, R-Grove.
Cox said passage of the bills could drive minors to having back-alley abortions, require more paperwork for doctors and destroy a physician's confidential relationship with a patient.
Lawmakers in both houses approved a parental notification bill last year, while the new measure calls for parental consent.
