LOWELL - While UMass-Lowell has struggled unexpectedly for most of this season, it did score five or more goals in six different games.
Last night at Tsongas Arena, the River Hawks not only duplicated that offensive feat but erupted for five goals in a single period - the most allowed in any period by Boston College this season.
The result was a 6-3 victory that clinched a playoff spot in the upcoming Hockey East tournament for Lowell (12-18-2, 9-14-2), which relied on a pair of goals by junior left winger Jeremy Hall (Nos. 9-10) and an unexpected 36-save performance by freshman Vinny Monaco of Andover, who won his starting ...
