Thousands protest in Pak against Prophet Mohammed cartoons
Islamabad, Feb 26 (PTI) Over 25,000 people took to the streets to protest Prophet Mohammed cartoons in Pakistan's port city of Karachi as opposition leaders, including cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan and leader of an Islamic alliance, were arrested in Lahore by police who fired tear gas shells at scores of activists who took out banned rallies in the city.
Thousands of people joined the rally organised by Tahafuz-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwat, a Sunni Muslim religious group, in Karachi to protest the publication of the controversial images, which first appeared in a Danish newspaper.
