CBS News president Sean McManus named several of the net's rising stars on Thursday to some of the most visible posts in TV journalism. Correspondent Jim Axelrod, 43, was named chief White House correspondent, replacing John Roberts, who departs for CNN on Friday.
Lara Logan, 34, who made a name for herself in Iraq and Afghanistan, becomes chief foreign correspondent.
Byron Pitts, 45, lead reporter for CBS during the Sept. 11 attacks, becomes national correspondent.
(Over at the Peacock, Lyne Pitts, wife of Byron Pitts, was named exec producer of "Weekend Today" on Thursday by NBC News prexy Steve Capus.)
