A new frontier may be opened soon in an effort to get LNG from Russia to North American markets.
That new frontier is one of the most inhospitable places on the planet--the Arctic Ocean. With an average temperature of 55 degrees F, the Arctic Ocean can be a sea of ice that varies in thickness from only a few inches to more than 18 feet.
But scientific or technical challenges aren't the key stumbling blocks to opening this frontier to large-scale LNG traffic--it's politics.
