The father of a 15-year-old boy shot dead by a Springfield police officer last summer planned to use his settlement check from the city to hire a hit man to kill the officer involved, according to court records.
Charles Leslie Porter, 50, told a police informant that he expected to receive about $35,000 from the city of Springfield to settle a lawsuit he filed after his son's death, a court document says.
He allegedly offered to pay the informant $10,000 in cash and methamphetamine to kill Springfield officer Ethan Spencer, who was cleared of any wrongdoing in the June 26 shooting of Jason Michael Porter. ...
