A biography of Joseph Pulitzer, Jr.--the third in a family line to run the St. Louis Post-Dispatch--portrays him as unflagging in his mission to continue the family's liberal journalistic tradition until his death in 1993.
It also tells how the three Pulitzers' lack of closeness to their sons affected the newspaper dynasty even up to the sale of the 127-year-old company last year.
The book, titled "No Ordinary Joe," was written by Daniel W. Pfaff, an emeritus journalism professor at Penn State University. He previously wrote a biography of Joseph Pulitzer II, who died in 1955.
