David Hill knew leaving the city his father helped mold was not an option.

So when the Kimball Hill Homes chairman and chief executive officer decided his Rolling Meadows company needed new headquarters, he decided to buy an office building about half a mile west of the company's current facilities.

After all it was Kimball Hill, David Hill's father, who bought 500 acres of farmland in the early 1950s, built homes and the first elementary school for his fellow GI generation, and named the development Rolling Meadows.
