The prosecution in former Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen's trial has outlined a massive campaign machine that ran Republican campaigns at the Legislature. But the campaign duties of those taxpayer-funded staffs also reached far outside the Capitol -- extending to campaigns for Congress, district attorney and even the Dane County Board.
Testimony and documents introduced at the trial and records and interviews obtained by the Wisconsin State Journal reveal the wide-ranging campaign duties of staff from both parties at the now-defunct legislative caucuses.
