The Auburn, a car manufactured in Auburn, Ind. from 1900 to 1936, began as a fledgling venture of a carriage maker, became part of E.L. Cord's stylistic trinity of famous vehicles, and then finally succumbed to management neglect and one too many economic depressions.

Auburn is perhaps best remembered as one Cord's three great vehicles - Auburn, Duesenberg and Cord -- all manufactured in Indiana: the Auburn and Cord's namesake the Cord in Auburn; the Duesenberg in Indianapolis. Cord had acquired the mighty Duesenberg in 1926 from its owner, Duesenberg Automobile and Motors Corporation and Fred Duesenberg.
