McNamara lauded at memorial service
Ed McNamara got warm salutes and farewells from family, friends and colleagues Friday morning as nearly 1,000 people crowded Most Holy Trinity Church for the funeral Mass of the former Wayne County executive.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm said McNamara, who died of heart failure Feb. 19, showed respect for all, "from the shoeshine guy to the county commission chair.'' Granholm, who was McNamara's corporation counsel before running for state office, said that he was "an old-fashioned politician who had the pulse of the people,'' and that his extended political and government family will continue a legacy of public service.
