Mar. 1--LAKE OSWEGO -- Lake Oswego had plenty of room to grow when Russ and Suzanne Bergeron bought their house in 1986.

The four-bedroom, 2,500-square-foot home cost the young couple, with a toddler in tow, $119,000. They raised three children, sending them through Lake Oswego School District schools.

And as their children grew, so did Lake Oswego. Now, there is little room left for new houses, which has helped drive prices beyond the reach of most young families with children. In today's market, the Bergerons' house would sell for more than $500,000 dollars.

Lake Oswego has, in effect, priced itself out of children. ...
